The 20th anniversary of the accident attracted a great deal of interest from media around the world . March 28, 1979 is a day that will be remembered for many more years by the citizens of this area who faced a very frightening nuclear accident. Conflicting information was the "norm" during the accident and citizens had a hard time deciding whether to stay or evacuate. In fact, the NRC continues to state that the exact plant conditions during the accident are still debated.
