NIRS: Trump's Dirty Energy Bailout is on the Fast Track--Act Now to Stop It!

Dear Friend,

On Friday, the Trump administration announced its plans to promote nuclear power and coal. And it is far worse than we ever thought it would be—a promise to guarantee a hefty profit to every nuclear reactor and coal plant in the country, for years and years to come.

We need to act fast.

Fears of a $100 billion nuclear bailout are wishful thinking by comparison. It could turn out to be much larger. In fact, the Department of Energy’s (DOE) bailout plan is so extreme, there was some initial hope that it would fall on deaf ears.

No such luck. Late on Monday—just one business day after DOE proposed it—the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) said it would fast-track review of the bailout plan.

Will you help us stop nuclear power now?

FERC is one of the least accountable federal agencies—controlled by the huge energy corporations it regulates, just like the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Together we can stop them! We have to mobilize thousands of people over the next few weeks, and get our Congressional, state, and local representatives to speak out.

We need your help now to do that.

So far, we have collected over 10,000 signatures opposing the bailout—but we have to reach outside of our ranks and mobilize many, many more people.

There will be more actions to take in the coming weeks—stay tuned and spread the word!

But we need your support today. Please donate what you can—every dollar will be matched by another NIRS supporter.

Thanks for all you do!
